MARCH 16 FRIDAY
Where has the time gone. If I'm not mistaken today is the 29th day we've been onboard. Where has a month gone? The time goes by so quickly thart it's hard to imagine we've been on that long and more than half of our adventure is over.
Today we were in Raiatea and to be perfectly honest this day can't end fast enough. We had a tour today which turned out to be a disaster. We were supposed to have 2 boats as there was 27 of us originally and when we went to the docks for our boats they weren't there and our boat (notice the singular) showed up 1/2 hour late and said there was problem with one of the boats so we had to squeeze into 1 boat. There were 2 very smart people that said there wasn't enough room and they didn't want to be squeezed in like a sardine. We were supposed to go to an island where some people could swim and some could snorkel but it took us 1 1/2 hours to get there because they were also having problems with the engine. Isn't that a great start to a wonderful day? I forgot to mention on the way to the island we passed lots of dolphins playing in the water. We didn't know it at the time but that turned out to be the only good part of or day. We get to the island and first they say only the swimmers get off here and they'll take the snorkelers elsewhere. We (not easily) climb down the ladder into the water and walk onto the island and
the first thing we see are bags of dirty garbage. Since it was 10 AM it could not possibly be from today.
There was basically no place for us to sit so Enid and I decided to get back on the boat and when we turned around we noticed that the snorkelers had gotten off and were walking toward their destination. I went to get on first and Enid had 1 hand on one side of my backside and one of the workers had a hand on my other cheek while Wally was pulling me on from inside the boat. When it was Enid's turn the worker was all that was left in the water so he had the pleasure of having both hands on her tush. We all know what kind of smile he had on his face! To make a long story short we sat there waiting for the snorkelers (who by the way got very cut up from the coral reef) that came back bloody. It then took us 1 hour 40 minutes to
get to the next destination of seeing turtles except that we were all getting nervous we wouldn't get back to the ship before it left for 5 sea days to Maui. We told the owner we had to be back by 1 and he originally said no problem. On the way to the turtle place he said we would have to switch boats at the turtle
place if we wanted to make our boat. We never saw the turtles because everyone had to run to the bathroom (lucky for us the men went to the back of the building) and we got back to the ship at 1:30 with 15 minutes to spare. We all complained to the head of the operation that we want some money back (which fell on deaf ears) so we're all going on the computer to advise people coming to this island not to
use his company. We're also going to tell the ship in case they want to hire them for one of their shore excursions.
Tomorrow is St. Patty's day and the first of 5 more sea days.
I forgot to mention that when we were in the cocktail lounge tonight a couple walked
over to us when they heard us discussing our poor tour today and they were to 2
intelligent people that asked for their money back.
spoke to sandy today..she went for a manicure all by herself..the woman she has working for her is a gem..so she says..i wished her happy birthday for us..US...she is doing something tomorrow on her birthday snd we are going with lois and jimmy to the hard rock and then to china dumpling in boynton..told sandy i would call her in the evening..she is a little numb around the laser area..it might or might not go away..waiting over a week for tommy to get to me for lollie..should i call him?..yesterday i must have called helene 42 times..no answer at home and her cell phone was busy for hours..with exaggeration it was at least 42 times..i must have left 10 messages on her house phone..couldn't leave a message on cell because it was busy..tried until midnight..nothing..called shirley in texas and got no answer..i was panic stricken..finally got her around 11 am this morning she was in inverarry..where ever that is..i told her i would personally kill her if she doesn't give me her itinerary..i can't tell you how my heart was racing..i thought i was having a heart attack.. i she ever does that again..i will kill her..i am still upset and repeating myself..sorry..hope 2morrow is better 4 u
ReplyDeletesaw tommy and lollie today monday 3/19..gave her her stuff..we had a great meal at china dumpling but there was a 40 minute wait..all is good in fla..trying to get rccl to get me some of my food choices..waiting for a reply...we bought a 43 inch tv for bedroom..mike is in pig heaven and happier because he hooked it up..a nice jewish boy putting the plug in..am i amazed..lol

ReplyDeleteGot back yesterday from Inverness where my friends Jane and Bob from NJ have a home. Barbara can't remember anything, I told her a while ago I was going there.The reason she couldn't reach me is because I bought and I phone that is global for all the trips we are going on and I don't know why it didn't work, but there was only 3-4 calls on my home phone from her. It took me close to 4 hours to get there, she is in the boon docks. We went to see Winter on Friday, she just lays in a tank, they only put the tail on when she is in P.T. so there were other dolphins there doing tricks and some turtles and other sea animals. The place was packed. We also took a boat ride to a piece of sand and picked some shells, they also through out a net and cought some fish and told us what they were. Then after that we went to tarpen springs where they make sponges and had dinner there, greek. Saturday we went to ybor city for a st. pattys day parade that was like a marde gra, with floats and beads, so I got beads to send to Texas to the sr. center for bingo. Came home on Sunday after going to Orlando to see my house.
Went to work today, I will go in again this week and order the tickets, Sandy is going also, what day do you want, it's Aug. 1-5. The Bway. series should be out next week Mame said. Kings point is out, tickets go on sale to residents 4/2, I think and DuDu will be there 2/13.
spoke to Sandy and she is doing better, called her for her birthday, but she wasn't home. I started P.T. for my tennis elbow, now I'm just waiting for my boot to get here for my foot. What a team we are. Tomorrow is the card party, Wed. is my regular game and Thurs. is a canaster tournament, am I crazy or what.
Sorry to hear about the rotten boat trip, fight for your money back. I had a problem when I was in NY last week with the rental car, they haven't charged me yet and they just sent me 4 coupons, for a free day, 2 car upgrade, 25% off and a free tank of gas, whoopy.
